Staying Relaxed at Home and on the Go
While we love at home massages for the ultimate relaxation, what you eat matters too. And there are plenty of foods to help you maintain a sense of relaxed calm. Some of our favorites at Spa Theory are:
Bananas: Bananas contain potassium and magnesium, two minerals that act as natural muscle relaxants.
Almonds: Almonds also provide muscle relaxing magnesium. They’re also high in calcium, which can help regulate the nervous system.
Kiwis: Kiwis are the super fruit for sleep and relaxation. They’re chock full of serotonin.
Honey: Many people don’t know that honey can be used to relax the body and the mind. Honey is known to contain high levels tryptophan, which helps to reduce anxiety and relax the nerves.
Celery: Historically, celery was regarded as an antidote for stress. Today, nutritionists recognize the daily ingestion of celery as an effective plan to lower high blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure leads to a better ability to relax.
Oatmeal: As long as it is sugar-free. Oats are rich in Vitamin B6 – a known anti-stress vitamin.
