Alyshah Vishram Lalani: Female Founder, Entrepreneur, Wellness Warrior

Meet Alyshah Vishram Lalani, Spa Theory founder and spa-insider. Having spent most of her career working in spas: from receptionist, to manager, as well as a makeup artist, Alyshah knows first-hand the importance of living a wellness-based life and how self-care factors into that.

Spa Theory was born from an a-ha moment Alyshah had while working as a mobile makeup artist. “When I was a spa receptionist, I watched clients come in loaded down by stress and anxiety. When they walked out there was an air of calm, happy, and confidence,” says Alyshah. “As I transitioned my career into makeup artistry I wanted to travel to client’s homes and locations in order to make it easy for them and to help cultivate that feeling of calm. From my spa days I knew how impossible it could be to book an appointment on a busy Saturday. Forget about last minute, that’s nearly impossible at a spa. Traveling to clients meant more flexibility for them and for me. But I’m only one person…”

And that’s when the a-ha moment occurred. Alyshah, knowing the benefits of self-care coupled with the fundamental issues that occur in a brick-and-mortar spa, wanted to create a full-service spa that traveled to the client. A one-stop-shop for all the spa and salon services a person would get at a physical spa, but available to them in the comfort of their home, hotel, or office. From massages to facials, hair and makeup to manicures and pedicures, spa parties to date nights – an ease of use offering that makes wellness and “me-time” simple and accessible to people.

“Me-time is very sacred to me,” says Alyshah. “I start everyday writing down my intentions for the day, followed by 10 minutes of guided meditation. I also journal 2-3 times a week, reflecting on myself, and attend 1:1 therapy to keep my emotional and mental health checked. I genuinely believe that me-time and emotional well-being is just as crucial as physical well-being. It takes work every single day. When you do the inside work, you can glow and grow outside. Everything is superficial without inner reflection.”

How does a wellness warrior like Alyshah relax? “With COVID, it’s so important for us to remember to take the time we need to mentally and physically recharge. Clearly I love spa appointments for recharging my inner batteries - and being able to do so in the safety and comfort of my living room makes a big difference. I definitely recommend booking appointments at times when the kids are asleep or busy, so you can enjoy your self-care time to the fullest.”
