2022 Wellness Trends and Tips for a Better Mind, Body, Spirit

For the most part wellness tips and trends don’t change much year after year, aside from upgrading technology. But enter the time of a global pandemic, shifts in how we work, the balance of home and office, and a new set of trends are taking form in 2022. At Spa Theory we’re seeing a host of wellness trends that treat not just the body, but also the mind and spirit.

No More Weekend Warrior

Pre-pandemic many of us were known as “weekend warriors”. Finally, being afforded the time to go for a long run, hit the hiking trails, go to a meditation class, or just about any class. A benefit of more flexible schedules and working from home is the growth of weekday workouts and more balanced workouts. We no longer need to wait for the weekend!

Outdoors is Where it’s At

According to a study from the University of Vermont, the uptick of happiness that people get from being outdoors in parks is similar to the jump measured on Christmas Day. In 2022 we’re making everyday Christmas and getting outdoors more in nature. It could be a mid-day walk around the block, an outdoor picnic with friends, or as we love at Spa Theory – an outdoor spa service like a massage or an outdoor spa party with friends.

No Equipment Required

Many of us left the gym and took our workouts to the living room. The growth of body-weight workouts will continue to rise in 2022. No fancy gym equipment required; body-weight workouts are just that – they use your own weight to tone muscles. From burpees to squats we’re creating our own bootcamps at home or on our driveways with friends.

More “Me-Time”

If 2021 was the year self-care was officially seen as not selfish, then 2022 is the year of “me-time.” Study after study shows the importance of refilling one’s own cup. 2022 is the year that time gets marked on the calendar each week. Me-time helps our brains unplug and science shows how much that can help relieve stress, improve sleep, control moods, increase patience, and improve happiness. As much as we love a full spa day at Spa Theory, me-time can be something as simple as a 10-minute hot shower, turning on your favorite tunes and dancing around the house, or reading for 20 minutes.

The biggest wellness trend for 2022 is taking care of ourselves - mentally, physically, and emotionally. For more about Spa Theory and the mobile spa offerings in Houston and Atlanta, check us out at spatheory.com.
