How to Prepare for an At-Home Hair and Makeup Appointment
Our Spa Theory makeup artists and hairstylists have been in the spa and beauty business for a long time and are sharing their tips for the best at home hairstyling and makeup appointments. Here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your mobile spa appointment.
Hairstyling Tips
1. If you’re getting a blowout have your hair washed and towel-dried for your appointment. When we say have your hair wet, we mean that it shouldn’t be dripping and on the other spectrum it shouldn’t be air dried. We like to say plan to be out of the shower with wet hair about 15 minutes prior to your appointment starting. Tip: Just have your phone in the bathroom with you should your provider arrive a bit early and need to connect with you.
2. Don’t put any products in your hair. Leave that to your hairstylist. Of course, if there are products you love to use have them out for your stylist. They will have their own assortment of great products but we know what it’s like when you find the perfect mousse and want to use your own.
3. If you want your stylist to add in any hair accessories have them on hand.
4. And if there are styles that you like have some pics ready to show your stylist.
Makeup Tips
1. If you wax or use hair remover, do it the day or two prior to minimize any redness or skin irritation.
2. If you are allergic to certain products make not of it upon booking so your makeup artist is aware prior to the appointment.
3. Prior to the appointment have your face clean, moisturized, and SPF’d. This way your makeup artist is starting from a clean and prepped pallet.
4. If your artist is applying fake lashes, have them on hand.
5. And if this is for a special occasion, have photos of your outfit, or the outfit itself, on hand to show your artist so they can help you put together the right makeup look.
And in all cases with hair and makeup appointments, keep checking the mirror and checking in with your stylist to ensure you get the look you’re going for!
